Technical Difficulties, That You Might Be Having With Your Blog, Too
I read over at Gwendomama that Site Meter and Internet Explorer and Blogger weren't really working together. So, I switched over to IE and, yep, my blog was unavailable — it was fine in Firefox, which is why I hadn't noticed. Since I was having problems retrieving my password from the Site Meter people anyway, I deleted their bit of code from my template and everything was back up in IE. I've been using StatCounter all along and have had no problems.
Speaking of statistics: I noticed that I'm down about 25 to 30 percent this quarter on readership. Is it the summer time blues? Am I experiencing blog suckage again? Are you all on holiday? I know that I haven't been up to writing anything of much depth lately. Maybe I don't leave enough comments with others? Maybe I should answer more comments? Do you all want more tutorials? Freebies? Human interest? Etsy updates?
Just wondering.
What makes you come back for seconds?
Constructive criticism welcome.
Thank you,
Michelle

i like you .. just the way you are.
I have to be careful trying to figure out the stats- on the one hand, I am totally addicted. But I have several ways of looking at the stats and they are all widely different. For instance, some don't seem to record the rss feed readers. I certainly can't give you any reason why things might be down... weird.
I'm reading...but summer does cut down on the list :)
More tutorials. And free stuff. We all like free stuff. Perhaps that's what I need to do - give away free stuff!
I think summer is sucking away my time at the computer! Why sit and blog when it is sunny outside. I certainly do read as much as I used to but I haven't been commenting as much. And I love this blog just the way it is!
I just love your sense of humor, your writing, your projects, and your pictures. Everything about you! I think it's summer. My bloglines list has 1700 unread posts. But yours is one I always come to first.
I just love your blog, and everything you do here. No need to change for me. However my bloggy favorites are tutorials and THEN freebies. I always love it when I read something I can go and apply to my life!
I've just had the first readers to my blog start coming for about the past week. My max so far was 38 (yesterday) which totally made me so very happy, but still no comments yet. Here's to hoping!
I'm very lame when it comes to commenting, especially lately, but I just wanted to pop to tell you how much I enjoy your posts.
(See? I've already used up every bit of brain power with just that sort of half-comment. Lame.)
I like your photos...
self portraits, kids, projects, outings. Real life stuff. I like your links too. Like your new-best-friend Heather Ross' Weekend blog.
I'm here. But yeah: summer blahs. Dog days, all that.
Hooray for feed readers, which faithfully keep serving up feeds even when I'm too ennui-tastic to do more than skim. My brain should come back online sometime in September.
I am also a stat reader.. so I know what you mean? Doesn't anyone like me anymore? But I think a lot of it is how much time it seems to take to just leave a simple comment. I read your blog in bloglines, so if I'm lazy, I don't bother to actually come to the blog to comment and then you don't get the hit that I'm reading. If that makes sense. I read every post though, even if I don't come to your actual blog or comment, if that's any consolation!
i love your blog the way it is too! i've really enjoyed your round-ups of all the wonderful crafty things you didn't show on the blog when you made them (skirts, pretty blouses etc). I find them really inspiring.
i have a feelling any lull in readership is just summer blahs, as you are as FABULOUS as always. but if you do want new readers, i'm pretty sure that tutorials really bring 'em in and get linked to like crazy (be sure to e-mail the peeps at the CRAFT blog when you post! they are great for sending over traffic). more than freebies or anything else, how to's seem to do the trick-- just my two cents!
i'm here, I'm reading! I use bloglines, so if I don't click to your blog specifically I don't think your stat counter will count me as reading. But I do!

Same "problem" here. I guess it's just summer. Wait and see if your stats stay low when fall begins. Then start worrying!
Oh - there is nothing wrong with your blog - you are just fine the way you are!
I love it all... but anything crochetted (especially clothes) will certainly grab my attention straight away. But I love it just the way it is? Your blog is a lovely bright corner in the world wide web.
I cruise by most every day...I have a list of blogs I bookmarked and open daily. Yours is one. I like all your stuff--sewing, chatting, whatever.
I think you're neat.
:-)
i find my stats go up significantly when i post more often especially about crafting. have you tried google analytics for stats? lots of people like it.
Busy summer activities have caused me to scroll through blogs much faster, definitely not commenting much, and hitting "mark all read" much more often. I've also seen a drop in readers and commenters on my blog, but I'm guessing 1) my content is definitely lacking lately, with only a few finished projects and 2) others are busy, too.
Oh, and I should mention that I get lots (not, like, thousands, but more like tens) of readers from your blog! Yours and about three or four others always give me lots of hits. Thanks!!
My only constructively-critical comment about your blog is that I wish you would post even more often! More Green Kitchen!!
We the People have voted. More Green Kitchen, More often!

Does it count email readers? I have your blog sent right to my email and I read it there so that may be screwing up the count. Is there a way to see how many people have signed up for that?
Oh! Great blog by the way, I just started reading and I like what I see so far.
I didnt even know you were on Ravelry although I should have realized it since you are so creative. I can't even remember how I first found your site, I just love your style so to answer your question, keep posting your great ideas and creative style!
I'm a fan of the real life stuff, but I'm an easy audience. I seem to like all your posts.
Keep up the cool blog. Stats, Schmats...
Of course I think you are awesome. Have been a big fan for quite a long time. Always enjoy your great sense of humor.
I think (hope)it's the summer time. My stats are a bit low too.
Hugs, R
Blog suckage? Are you out of your mind? I absolutely love the past four posts or so-- the peppers, the sea lions, the embroidery as camoflague, the old linen bed sheet. Great stuff! I'll tell you, I have blogs on my list that are "so so," and yours is not among them. Yours is upper eschelon. Thanks for the inspiration.
I subscribe and while I don't get a chance to read all the stuff in my reader as frequently as I used to, I'm certainly not deleting any, especially this one!!!
Friend, it's not you. I just haven't been at the computer as much lately. It's weird: with more hours in the day, you'd think a larger percentage of my time would be online. Not so!
I also have just gotten back from blogging hiatus, so when I write, I read more.

I'm reading! And I like it the way it is. Although if you would mail me one of those gorgeous crochet bodice tops you've made (or post instructions?)I would stop by two or three times a day. That shirt is what hooked me initially.
I love to read your blog, and actually I have a link to your blog in my blog check it out!!I just started this summer, so no summer blues.

Hey Michelle! I still love you, too!
I notice a definite drop off in the Northern Hemisphere summer. I figure everyone is outside doing stuff.
Oh, and I am a slack commenter because blogger makes it slow and painful to comment. Well, that's my excuse anyway ;)
I notice that NO ONE comments on the weekend. I still get traffic, but not the comments. My traffic hasn't increased all year. Just a steady stream since January.
I think the #1 thing that keeps me returning to my favorite blogs is regularity & frequency of posts. My top 2 or 3 bloggers post every day or every other day, at least.
Stay the same - good good writing and wonderful individualistic photos - you rock!!
