Thomas P*rn, or, Steampunk for the Smaller Set
A couple generous donations from friends, an extravagant grandmother, parents who indulge a little too much — life of a first grandchild on both sides. The shelf is grandma craft.

Oh I have a little one that would adore this...there is osmething I like about Thomas...I guess it has history unlike some of the newer train stories out there. Lovely display
Oh yes, we are only too familiar with the p*rn aspects of said little engine. "Very useful."
Great containment! They are so much more loveable when there are neat and orderly.
What a great way to display it all! My oldest daughter was a first grandchild and she was quite overindulged so I know where you're coming from ;)
I love the display! So much more pleasing to look at than an overflowing toy box ...
The great display is only slightly eclipsed by the BRILLIANT title!
I was trying to think what toy pr0n we were exposed to as children. Most of it seemed to be advertised during Saturday morning cartoons, and since I didn't watch those, I missed a lot of what I was supposed to like. Such as Barbie, whom I didn't know even existed until I was 7 or 8. I was a square even as a child....
hee hee
we have multiple thomases, too - in various stages of their faces wearing off. they're actually really creepy looking. ;^)
i just packed away all our thomas & friends and track .. for the grandkids i guess. wah.
Great looking display.
totally cool!
ah, looks like grandma has her craft groove on....and we went thru the thomas porn stage too, i miss buildig layouts with Ben...
We have the first grandchild syndrome too! But our collection isn't nearly as organized as this!
Wow- what a wonderful collection. I love the rainbow arrangement. I also know many toddlers (and grown men) who would be green with envy.
But it is so pretty!
this is by far the best title for a post ever.
i love the color orgaization here! train porn is right!
I've given you a wee award -come and see!
Fun idea! We've got a box full of thomas in the closet. I wasn't sure what to do with them, definately NOT destined for a yard sale. I think I loved them almost as much as baby bear did...until he discovered ninja turtles.
Love the trains. Great shot!!
ooooh this is beautiful!
and the colours arrangement!
lucky boy
*sigh
i loved the thomas phase! just last week i gave away our table, tracks, trains and all the sodor island goodness...
so sad that my littles aren't so little any more. but they went to the loving home of a friend of mine with 5 sons (7 and under). there is still much play left in those trains
Recently, we went to the library and there was an advertised event taking place with a vintage miniature steam train set-up and the train's owner there to answer questions. Quite frankly, it reminded me of a toddler version of a strip club because all the little boys were wandering around the train set with this glassy-eyed look of full rapture. Even the old man who owned the set up had that look. I actually found it to be the cutest thing ever---such earnest passion.
I like the fact that you can see and enjoy them, even when not in use. I also, of course, appreciate the rainbow order to it. I'd have to integrate Bob the Builder into our shelf too... and then one for the die cast Disney CARS. Still. A great idea!
