Vintage Reading Rainbow
Guess you could have seen this coming — I couldn't help myself. I just had to do the books by color thing that's so popular these days (see last post for the before shot). Turns out my mom isn't so happy about the new order, she prefers alphabetical by author — she likes to "know" which ones she has.
These were the books my mom grew up with; they were her father's. His name was Quentin, but they called him Kip. I think I'll call him Al.
Click on the book photo if you want to see it bigger, maybe recognize a few titles.

yes.
I like the colors!
Any type of organizing impresses me these days.
Oh I really like that book shelf arrangement! .... don't like it so much when yarn stores arrange their yarn by colour though!
I love it. It looks so cool..... but from the point of view of practicality I'd have to roll with your Mum, alphabetical by author is best. So, practical or pretty? Oh blow it, go with the rainbow. Life's too short.
I'm with your Mum on this one! That would drive me crazy.
But it is very pretty indeed...
My favorite bookshop arranges by geography (of setting or of author, depending) which works for me.
Arranged by colour... yes, I really ought to give this a whirl. It must prove super handy for testing the memory, too.
see you, grache
so beautiful! love the way it looks... also really enjoying reading your blog - and if you are still looking for suggestions for some new blogs to read, I'd love to have you stop by mine sometime...

Yes, but Kip was so much better looking than Al. I love that picture.
The craftster in me loves the arrangement by color...the librarian in me, however, likes the author system. You could always dork it up like me and arrange them by Library of Congress catalog number though. But then people might start to wonder...
Now I'm going to be tempted to buy my books based on color.
waw, lovely, i have a green to blue range of old books on my shelf. Where did you put the dog statue?? I liked it a lot!
You should see my house now, it is such a mess!.
you know, the less work I have, the messier my house becomes, strange he?
Your books are really lovely, the colors are very subtile.
Sorry for my bad english spelling:(
Looks beautiful... Vintage books are so gorgeous to look at... I have a little shelf at home, I think one day I would actually like to read them, but secretly know I never will.
