I *heart* futuregirl
If you haven't checked out futuregirl go do it now. Alice is a talented gal. She has some great tutorials and a series of softies based on German film directors. I first commented on her blog because she made this fantastic felt octopus named Sigmund. Her guy, Andrew, took a most excellent photo of Sigmund in a cool setting with cool lighting. Alice also has a stuffed animal named Neville, named after the Gashley Crumb Tinies. Since I seem to collect friends with softies named Neville we were destined to be friends. Most recently she was part of an ornament swap that I organized. To reprise her most excellent octopus she created Octophrost: Santa of the Sea. I think she spent like eight hours per ornament. The detail is great. And, he's fun to hold — the tentacles are all wiggly.
Alice also makes and sells crocheted handbags. I am the lucky recipient of one, as shown in this photo. I sent Alice a drawing for sizing and she sent me a bag that fits me and my lifestyle perfectly. The super cool design is inspired by the fabric that she used for the lining. The details are great. There's a cell phone cozy, a key hook thingy, and an adjustable strap. You all should check out her Etsy shop. If you don't see something that you want, I'm sure she could do a custom order. Thanks, Alice.

on another note...congrats on conquering the zipper. 3 skirts - that must be some kind of record.
Bag envy and inspiration. You're stylin'. What zippers? I do lack short term memory, or is that long term memory. Both I guess.
I *heart* Green Kitchen. :)
Thank you for all the bloggy love. I'm so glad that you like your bag. I was just looking at the pictures of it again, and they reminded me how much fun I had making it for you.
Hey Alice, Did you ever post photos of it? If you didn't, could you? I probably won't get a chance to take a nice, clear photo.
hhmmmm...lots of posties, I like!
Thought fer sure I'd see you at the Fungus Fair. Evidently it's been too dry for chanterelles lately. But I'm keeping my eye out.
Aurora, I kept the family home to avoid the germs (a little paranoid). I found enough chanterelles last weekend to make a pot of soup. Yum!
I can't wait to get her bags in my store. Plus I plan to order one for myself too. Her bags are amazing!
You can find chanterelles in the wild where you live? And you never worry that you'll accidentally get the wrong kind? That's sooooo cool!
I'm with you on the whole "Alice is great" thing. A super person, overall. And thanks to you for "introducing" us via the interwebs. I have to make a photo album of my Neville Abroad pictures.
I too think the bags Alice at futuregirl makes are great. I love looking at all of them as she posts photos. Speaking of crochet, how is your afghan making going?
that's a gorgeous bag! futruegirl is great too!
i was so relieved to click over to future girls site and see she only named her adorable softies after german film directors. I was picturing an actual Werner herzog softie...not so adorable.
that bag rocks....maybe I need to dist off my crochet hooks, since I making NO headway on my resolution to learn how to knit better.
