It truly fits into our family's lifestyle. I love it. It's handsome, durable; light weight, but warm; and not too precious, which is important with an active-explorer pre-schooler (jumping, spilling), a baby (spitting up), and a dog (lots of hair). It also reuses materials — good for the world, good for the soul. I love the colors and patterns, they remind me of the hills and furrows of a Grant Wood painting.
Mim also filled the shipping box with other treats for big brother (Thomas train, wooden frog toys), and mom (fabric, embroidery floss), including a limmerick about my baby-poop-colored Martha-Stewart-painted bedroom. Here it is:
There once was a paint chip called yolk*
It looked lovely to almost all folk
for those who make moo
it looked like baby poo
Perhaps it is all just a cosmic joke!
*An Actual Martha Stewart Signature paint color.
Thank you Mim!
Your kindness is inspirational.

What a lovely quilt!
And had I never had children, I wouldn't undertand at all. But I totally get it.
so sweet :)
that's wonderful! she's cool people.
You've got such a beautiful family.
The quilt is wonderful--what a thoughtful gift!
thanks for the gorgeous photos of your guys...and so glad to see the quilt looks right at home. I was so touched by the random acts of kindness that came my way when Ben was born that I have made it a habit pay it foward. an dI like the grant wood reference, must be growing up in the midwest
That was incredibly kind. And I really must say that your two kiddos are just adorable.
Its really beautiful and I love the way you described it. Very generous...
First, I must say, you have two of the cutest little guys! Look at the sparkle in Carlo's eyes ... oh, too cute.
Second, if anyone deserves a random act of craftiness, it's you.
Everywhere I go in the craft blog world I see that you've preceded me being supportive, open, fun, down-to-earth, bawdy, and encouraging. I'm sure your life isn't always a bag of sunshine (whose is?), but somehow you consistently project an optimistic and positive attitude.
You make me smile, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Your babies are adorable! as is the quilt....that type of quilt has been on my "to do....someday...." list for a long time...what an inspiration!
